Ivo Bol has been invited by artist and choreographer Luis Lara Malavacias for a two week residency at Greenspan Centre in Brooklyn. During this residency, Ivo Bol will compose electronic music for Malavacias’ new work “Not Meant To Be Reviewed”, commissioned by Danspace Project and presented at St. Mark’s Church on the Bowery.
Ivo Bol has worked with Luis Lara Malavacias on multiple occasions, such as Danspace Project, Alvin Ailey Center, Joyce SOHO, DTW and The Kitchen (NY, Amsterdam, Vienna and Copenhagen).
After years of playing bass guitar in different bands, Evo Bol became interested in electronic and electroacoustic music, sound design and sampling. In his current practice, Ivo Bol uses cinematic and dramatic qualities when working with theatre makers, choreographers, filmmakers and visual artists. He has worked with choreographers Kenzo Kusuda, Martin Butler, Roser Lopez Espinosa, Pere Gay I Faura and the Guangdong Modern Dance Company from China. He has performed throughout Europe, China, South Korea, the United States and Venezuela. Ivo Bol’s work has been presented at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, and in 2011 he was a guest composer at the University of North Texas. Recently, Ivo Bol composed work for the Wave Field Synthesis system from the Game Of Life, made a sound and visual composition about the history of Dutch New Guinea for the Military Pension and Museum Bronbeek Arnhem and composed music for the new piece of choreographer Marta Reig Torres at the Cadance Festival in The Hague.
