In May of 2005, three directors of Dutch-American sites in New York City (Sean Sawyer, then of Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum; Felicia Mayro, St. Mark’s Historic Landmark Fund; Susan De Vries, Dyckman Farmhouse Museum) first began discussing the possibility of a collaborative effort to mark Dutch-American Heritage Day and the continuous influence of Dutch culture in New York City. That small idea grew into a wonderful annual event.
The St. Mark's Historic Landmark Fund served the crucial role as the project sponsor from its very inception. Their support made the growth of the project possible.
In 2010, 5DD is entering a new phase as the project joins with The Netherland-America Foundation - a partnership that will allow for the continued growth of the project.
